Frederick Carl Frieseke was an American Impressionist painter. He developed loose brushwork, decorative harmonies and a taste for filtered light. Paintings such as "The Garden Parasol" and "Afternoon - Yellow Room" place female figures in sunlit gardens and interiors. Settled for many years in Giverny from the 1900s, he made luminous sensation and the domestic motif central to his art.
