Albert Gleizes was a French painter, theorist, and philosopher of Cubism. Co-author with Jean Metzinger of the treatise “Du Cubisme” and a founding member of the Section d’Or, he developed a constructed, rhythmic, often abstract form of painting inseparable from a reflection on the spiritual and social role of art.
